SM City Bataan continues to champion sustainability through its solar energy initiatives, reinforcing its commitment to environmental conservation. The mall is equipped with 4,060 solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, boasting a peak capacity of 2,376,000 kW. This investment in renewable energy not only helps reduce dependence on conventional power sources but also contributes to lowering greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change.
In addition to energy conservation, the use of solar panels plays a crucial role in addressing power supply challenges. As electricity demand rises and energy costs fluctuate, having a renewable energy source ensures the efficient and uninterrupted operation of SM malls. This initiative highlights the company’s dedication to sustainable business practices while promoting the importance of alternative energy solutions.
This March, SM City Bataan will take part in the Earth Hour 2025 campaign, marking its 17th year of participation in the global movement. As part of the #SMEarthHour2025 initiative, the mall will join other SM branches in the Global Lights Off event on March 22, temporarily switching off non-essential lights to raise awareness about energy conservation and climate action. Through this initiative, SM continues to encourage communities to take part in meaningful efforts toward a greener future.
