Empowering Women in the Digital Economy

In a significant step towards promoting digital inclusion and women empowerment, Mayor AJ Concepcion thanked the Aboitiz Power Subsidiaries GNPD and GMEC, for giving opportunities to 37 women in their town, which is very timely to the celebration of Women’s Month.

They received skills training in data annotation and were provided laptops, handsets, wired routers and pocket wifi devices to enable these women that even at home they can work online.

Mayor Concepcion also said that the initiative was made possible through Aboitiz Power Subsidiaries GNPD and GMEC programs “Elevate Aida” and “Connected Women” which aims to equip women with the knowledge and tools to thrive in the digital economy.

While GNPD snd GMEC officials said that their program is a testament to the commitment to creating a more inclusive and progressive future for women in Mariveles and beyond, they added that bridging the digital divide and providing opportunities for skills development, they can unlock the full potentials of women and contribute to a more equitable society.
