The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region III (DA-BFAR) has inaugurated the Legislated Multi-Species Marine Hatchery in Barangay Quinawan, Bagac. A formal blessing ceremony marked the opening of the facility, which aims to support the local fishing industry.
The ₱32-million hatchery is expected to boost fish seed production and strengthen aquaculture enterprises. It will provide a sustainable source of fish stocks, benefiting fisherfolk and businesses in Bataan and nearby provinces.
The facility is part of DA-BFAR’s initiatives to enhance marine resource sustainability. By improving fish breeding and seed distribution, it aims to address declining fish populations and promote responsible fishing practices.
Local officials and DA-BFAR representatives expressed optimism about the project’s impact on the region’s economy and food security. They emphasized the importance of government support for sustainable fisheries and marine conservation efforts.
