Bataan prepares for the 83rd Araw ng Kagitingan commemoration

The Bataan Tourism Office has announced a series of activities in celebration of the 83rd Araw ng Kagitingan on April 9, 2025, with the theme “Kabayanihan ng Beterano: Sandigan ng Kaunlaran ng Bagong Pilipinas.”

This annual event honors the bravery and sacrifices of Filipino and American soldiers during World War II, particularly those who endured the Bataan Death March. The commemoration will feature historical, cultural, and patriotic activities aimed at deepening the public’s appreciation of this significant chapter in Philippine history.

The celebration will kick off with the Tagisan Diwang Bataan, a historical quiz competition on April 3-4 at the Bataan People’s Center. This will be followed by Araw ng mga Beterano on April 5, also at the same venue, to recognize and pay tribute to war veterans.

The main event on April 9 will take place at Mt. Samat National Shrine in Pilar, where national and local officials, veterans, and the public will gather for a solemn tribute. Simultaneously, the Bakbakan sa Bataan at the Bataan People’s Center and the Freedom Ride from the foot of Mt. Samat in Brgy. Diwa, Pilar, will also take place.

The Provincial Government encourages the public to participate in the various events to honor the valor of the country’s heroes and reflect on the significance of Araw ng Kagitingan.
