Bataan Farmers’ and Fisherfolk’s Week

Provincial Ordinance no.9 Series of 2025 also known as known as the Bataan Farmers’ and Fisherfolk’s Week Ordinance designates the third week of May every year as a special week to honor the contributions of farmers and fisherfolk to the province’s economic growth and development.

According to BM Popoy del Rosario, author of said Ordinance, it seeks to empower and support the agricultural and fisheries sector through access to technology, research, financial and marketing programs. It also promotes active participation of farmers, fisherfolk and their organizations to government planning and development efforts

The Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) have been actively supporting farmers and fisherfolks in various initiatives such as, cash and food subsidy, enterprise development programs as well as registration and issuance of identification cards to farmers and fisherfolk to relevant programs.
