FAB Walk will now be a commercial center at the FAB Central Terminal with the unveiling of the monument named “Pasangang daan”, last April 25, 2025.
Atty Christopher Ryan Tan, CEO of Hausland, the developer of said place during the unveiling ceremony, said that the place where we are now standing is of historical significance; the young people who will come in this facility will not just enjoy coffee, food and have fun but will also embrace a testament of historical account.
Atty Tan likewise said that, Hausland doesn’t just develop and conduct business; they believe in the identity of the Filipino people, and will continue to support Mariveles, from the FAB terminal to the unveiling and many more markers of historical account.
AFAB Administrator Hussein Pangandaman thru his representative, congratulated Hausland for another meaningful project and added that the monument is another instagram worthy marker that will surely make the Freeport Area of Bataan a place for visiting, working and investing in.
Meanwhile, the artist of the “Pasangang daan”, thru his son Diego Imao said that the monument is to honor the memories of those who lived, fought and died and were worth it.
The monument, according to visual artist Abdulmari, “TOYM” Imao jr., a UP Faculty member, Fulbright scholar and Metrobank Awardee, reflects the narratives of the two opposing era, that is of the American era and the other, echoing the Japanese era. He further said that monument symbolizes rustic remnants of war machines evoking tunnels used in the construction of bunkers, and from the conflict emerged, men and women who walked through the “Pasangang daan”/crossroad choosing courage, sacrifice and resilience.
The story we continue to tell is not just to honor the past but more importantly to understand the decisions we face now and those still to come, a reminder that we always arrive at a Pasangang daan, a crossroad of life, to remember how we pass that memory on, to find who we are as a people.
